SNEAK PEAK: Michaela Cox

Contemporary artist Michaela Cox shares a little insight into her studio work,

“I am interested in exploring ways to access the middle point between dualities where constructs of time and space dissolve and a sort of ‘transcendence’ occurs or a divine presence is felt.”

Michaela’s artwork, Where to from here will feature with several other artists when FreeArt launches its first projects very soon.

SNEAK PEAK: Josh O'Rourke

SNEAK PEAK: Josh O'Rourke

Josh is leading the charge on February 20th with the launch of his special project. When asked about his work and its current direction Josh had this to say,

Much of my work is informed by an interest in the documentation of beach and surf culture that emerged through Australia, New Zealand and especially California post-war (as well as the artists and art that coexisted).

Make sure you check out Josh’s work at FreeArt.co.nz 20/2/2014.

SNEAK PEAK: Antoinette Ratcliffe

SNEAK PEAK: Antoinette Ratcliffe

Anotinette is one of a small group of artists kicking off FreeArt on February 20th. Here is what she had to say when asked about her time in the studio.

“The part of my studio time I enjoy the most is making stuff up, like making up new characters and their traits, making new situations for them, and testing their humour. I love working with multiples that have slight imperfections, and making large scale installations where these characters can interact with each other.”

Check back on the 20th to see Antoinette’s work that she has created for FreeArt and be apart of public art in the making.

Just over a week to go

Just over a week to go

It is getting to the crunch and we are just finalising the artists for the first project releases on the 20th February. It is exciting times and all a bit stressful but will all be worth it once you get to see the amazing artists that we have for the inaugural projects. Keep an eye out on Facebook for sneak peaks and head back here for the big unveil.

FreeArt is off and running

FreeArt is off and running

It has been less than 48 hours since we kicked off our first billboard campaigns and we are super excited by the response. There have been plenty of people perusing the site and many have put their money where their heart is and supported various projects. We have a long road to travel, but make sure you get in early and pledge your support so we can make this happen and get more great art out to the public.

Share the wealth and re-twit, like, share, exploit us for your and your friends enjoyment and make sure you stay tuned. There will be more to come in the next few days highlighting our artists and rewards, so stay tuned and remember…

You will only be charged for your pledge IF the project reaches 100% of its goal. So if you really want your reward, tell your mates to pledge their support too so we can break that threshold.

Only 12 hours to go!

Only 12 hours to go!

Everything is set, the campaigns are loaded, everything has been checked and we are ready to go, We will be launching 10 campaigns tomorrow for you to feast your eyes on and introduce you to all the great pledge rewards! These rewards are artist friendly and created through great relationships with awesome people so the artists have to focus on one thing – creating art.

So set your clocks for 7am tomorrow, and every 1/2 hour after that a new campaign will be released!

We will be posting here and on facebook about the various artists and their work and will also be doing a few posts on the various rewards on offer.

NEW video – REWARD – FreeArt Wallet

This little beast is what everyone is wanting, and to wet the appetite a little more we have produced this little video (only a minute long) to show you what it is all about. Yours will be custom printed with the artwork you have supported and amazingly the outside of the wallet is almost the same shape as the billboard!

Just added a sign up form at the bottom of every page for you wonderful people to subscribe to emails about all the awesome fun things we are doing at FreeArt. There are two categories to sign up to at the moment. One for the supporters of what we are doing to stay informed as to all things FreeArt, and the other is for artists that like the idea but do not feel they are ready to fill out an EOI. All those that fill out the EOI form will be added to this list so we can keep in touch through the powers of the interweb.

FreeArt would like to invite all artists to put their names forward to work with us on our upcoming billboard campaigns. Each artist selected will be given their own crowdfunding campaign that may ultimately see their work up on a billboard in Auckland, New Zealand (at this stage – we hope to expand).

The process is simple:

  1. Read our artists FAQs
  2. Fill out the EOI Form
  3. Wait and we will be in touch.

There is no obligation at this stage to take on a campaign but you will have your finger on the pulse and we will let you know what the deal is later on. Did we mention you will get $$$ if your campaign gets fully funded? Oh yes you will!
